Privacy
What we collect, and when
If you send an enquiry, we keep the name, email address and phone number you give us, along with the course you asked about and your message. If you become a student, we also keep the records a diving school has to keep: your date of birth, your contact and emergency contact details, the certifications you hold, your progress through a course, and the results of your knowledge reviews and exams. Where medical fitness to dive is relevant, we record that it was assessed.
Why we keep academic records permanently
A diving certification can be questioned years after it was issued, whether by an employer, an insurer, or another school. Your progress, attempts and results are therefore kept as a permanent record and are never rewritten or deleted. That is deliberate, and it protects you as much as us: it means your certification can always be substantiated.
Who can see it
Your own record is visible to you, to the instructor assigned to your course, and to the school's administrators. An instructor sees only the students assigned to them. We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with advertisers.
What we do not do
We do not take payment through this website, so we never hold your card details. We do not sell your details, we do not advertise to you, and we do not track you across other websites. Signing in sets a session cookie, which is what keeps you signed in and nothing else. If you press like or dislike on a guide or post, we set one cookie holding a random token, so that your vote counts once and can be changed. It identifies your browser to us, not you, it is set only when you press, and it is used for nothing else.
Counting visits, if you agree
We use Google Analytics on our public pages to count visits and see which pages people find useful. It sets cookies in your browser, and it tells Google which pages you looked at and roughly where in the world you are. We ask first, and declining is not a preference we apply afterwards: until you press Accept, nothing is loaded from Google and your browser makes no request to them at all. You can change your mind at any time, using the switch at the end of this page. None of this runs on the signed-in parts of the site. Your lessons, your attempts and your results are never sent to Google.
Anything loaded from elsewhere
Apart from Google Analytics above, and only once you have agreed to it, our public pages load nothing from any other company. Photographs the school has uploaded — a course's picture, an instructor's face — are served from our own media storage at supabase.co, which holds them for us and is covered by this notice rather than being a third party you are handed to. The link to our location opens Google Maps in a new tab if you press it, and until you do, nothing is requested from Google. Inside a course, a lesson may embed a video. Those are served by YouTube through its no-cookie address, which does not set a cookie unless you play the video. While it plays, YouTube can see your network address under its own privacy policy rather than ours. We ask it nothing about you and receive nothing back.
Your choices
You can view and correct your own name, contact details and emergency details from your profile once you are signed in. You can also choose a username, which is the name other people see instead of your full name. Your full name is the one printed on your certificate, so we are told when you change it. A certificate you have already earned is never rewritten — it keeps the name it was issued with. If you teach here, your username, your name and your biography appear on your public instructor page. You can turn the visit counting above on or off whenever you like, at the end of this page. For anything else, such as a correction to your date of birth, a question about what we hold, or a request to stop contacting you, write to us and we will deal with it.
