Which shark course is which.
Two courses, and they are not two sizes of the same thing. One teaches you to dive with tiger sharks responsibly. The other trains you to take other people down and be answerable for them. Everything below is read from the courses themselves.

What to check in any shark course
Courses with near-identical names can be very different things, here and anywhere else. Four questions separate them, and any school should be able to answer all four before you pay.
- What certification do you hold at the end, and who issues it?
- A recognised agency's certification travels. A centre's own certificate of attendance is worth exactly what the next dive centre thinks of that centre.
- How many logged dives does it require, and how many with these animals?
- Time in the water with tiger sharks specifically is the thing that cannot be substituted. A prerequisite counted in dives is a real bar; one counted in days is a schedule.
- Is there an assessment, and can you fail it?
- A course you cannot fail is a briefing. Both are marked by the server against a fixed standard at every knowledge review, and both close their theory with a timed final exam whose pass mark is published before you enrol. The Safety Diver then adds the water: every skill assessed against a written performance standard, and evaluated dives under the instructor supervising them.
- Does it qualify you to look after other people?
- Diving safely yourself and being responsible for a group are different competences. Only one of these two courses claims the second.
